TGS launches 3D-seismic survey offshore Nigeria

TGS has announced the launch of the Nigeria Laide multi-client 3D survey offshore Nigeria, covering approximately 11,700 square kilometres, the company said on Friday.

The survey, acquired in partnership with the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission and SeaSeis Geophysical, is located in the Outer Fold & Thrust Belt of the eastern Niger Delta. It is designed to support hydrocarbons exploration in one of Nigeria’s most prolific regions.

The project will deploy GeoStreamer technology and advanced imaging solutions to help operators address complex deepwater geological structures. The data is expected to enable more confident evaluation of prospects.

“Nigeria continues to play a crucial role in the global supply of oil and gas. The expansion of our multi-client library in Nigeria in partnership with the government through the Laide 3D showcases our commitment to furthering hydrocarbons exploration in the region. By utilising industry-trusted acquisition solutions, TGS provides insights that accelerate exploration activity and allow operators to fulfil their exploration ambitions,” TGS CEO Kristian Johansen said.

TGS, headquartered in Norway, provides energy data and intelligence to oil and gas companies worldwide. The company specialises in multi-client seismic data, imaging services and subsurface data integration to support exploration and production activities across offshore and onshore basins.
